IKEA Rast Transformation

You know that cheap night stand that almost everyone had in their first college dorm or apartment? The RAST. Well,  unfortunately, two are still kicking around my house.  I hate them.  Well, I thought I hated them.  Turns out, a few hours, a few nail heads and a pot of $1 “oops” paint I scored at Home Depot was all this little ugly needed.

I’ve Missed You!

Wow.  How have I been away from this little blog and all of you (if you’re still out there) for so darn long?  It definitely wasn’t my intention to take such a long break.  But I’m going to be honest with you here.  Winter was long.  And draining.  And my motivation and creativity froze along with everything else around here.
Instead of focusing on my house this winter, I’ve been focusing on myself.  I’ve been taking a course and making my personal fitness a priority.  Which is another reason why I …

The Sister’s House–Kitchen Backsplash

I haven’t been as active on the blog in January as I thought I would have been.  Truth be told,  I haven’t really done much in the DIY arena since before Christmas.
Until this past weekend.   I headed to my sister’s house with big backsplash laying plans!  A project that neither her nor I had ever done before, but were confident we could pull of.  I don’t know where this confidence came from but our instincts were right.  The tile laying moved along quickly, the grouting was easier than expected and …

Boy + Girl Design SHOP!

It’s official!  My first eight images are live and up for sale.  If you want to check them out (and I hope you do!) click here or visit the “SHOP” tab on my navigation bar.

This is one of those experiences that’s both terrifying and exciting at the same time!  One that I hope will help me push my limits, hurdle over barriers and grow and stretch in ways I didn’t know I could.  I tweeted a link a few days ago and am happy to see that my photos have …

To 2013!

Well,  I officially considered Christmas break over as of yesterday.  And as much as I’ve absolutely loved all of the rest and relaxation, I’m ready to get back to this here blog with more dedication than in any year past.  I read my 2013 horoscope a few days ago.  It said that this would be my most successful year yet.  And even though I don’t really believe in astrology, I figure why not try to make that happen?  Success doesn’t come to those who wait.  It comes to those who …

Christmas Gift Recap

I hope each and every one of you had a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!  My break from the blog ended up being a little bit longer than I expected (and I never did finish my It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas Series), but it was so nice to take some time to enjoy family, take wintery dog walks, relax, eat far too much and play with all of the cool gifts I was so blessed to receive  Honestly, my family pulled out …

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No. 13–Gift Card Ornaments

I’m so glad you popped in on us for our 13th, It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas post.  This is a 25 post series about all things Merry & Bright.  Although, truth be told, I may only fit in 20 posts (or maybe 15 haha) before the 25th.  December flew by didn’t it?
I always feel a little bit guilty when I give a gift card.  Not because it isn’t a great gift, (personally I love receiving gift cards) but because I feel like they don’t present as well …

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No. 12–The Big Meal

The 12th post in our It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas series is all about the food!  If you’ve missed any of our other Christmas themed posts, I hope you’ll check them out!
My contribution to Christmas dinner this year is cooking the turkey, stuffing and potatoes.  I cooked a turkey at Thanksgiving and was really happy with how it turned out so I will be following the same recipe.  Same with the potatoes.  The stuffing however will be a first time recipe.  It’s a Betty Crocker recipe, so …

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No.11–Eggnog Cookies

I’m so glad you could join me for my 11th, It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas post.  I have lots of work to do if I’m going to post another 14 times between now and Christmas.  Maybe these cookies will give me the energy I need!
Eggnog.  It’s one of those seasonal treats you either love or hate.  Personally, I love it.  I’m pretty sure I could drink it year round and never get sick of it.  So when I stumbled upon a recipe (over on the recipe critic)  …

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No. 10–All Wrapped Up!

I’m so happy you’re here for my tenth It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas post!  Holy smokes.  I have 15 more Christmas posts planned between now and December 25th!  I hope you’ll follow along!
Today I’m popping on to share with you my first two wrapped gifts!  I showed you my photo tags a few days ago.  And today one is actually attached to a gift!  I decided to stick with the red, white and black theme I used for my traditional vignette and holiday table setting.  After I …
