Milk Glass –Thrift Store Finds

When I saw this milk glass vase and bell at my local thrift store the other day I couldn’t resist.  I love milk glass.  It’s so pretty and simple and it looks good displayed as a collection and on it’s own.  These two items are the beginning of what I hope will one day be a beautiful collection.  I have visions of a great big hutch filled with textured white glass. Although I love the bell, the handle looks a bit cheap.  Obviously I’m going to spray it ORB. …

She’s Moo-liscious – Another Thrift Store Find

Meet the newest member of our family. I haven’t named her yet, but I’m head over heels for this little ceramic cow.  I picked her up at Value Village (my local thrift store) yesterday and I’m loving the touch of whimsy she adds to my vignette.  In case you’re wondering why I only ever show styled pictures of the kitchen – it’s because the rest of the house is a complete disaster.  It’s difficult to style a room that still has boxes piled upon exposed subfloor with a back drop …

Stripping On A Friday Night

Remember the last time I posted about our entry way? No? Neither did I.  It was way back on January 2nd.  And we haven’t done a darn thing to it since then.  Can you believe there has been half stripped wall paper staring me in the face everyday for months and I haven’t done anything about it?  I was too wrapped up in the kitchen to even think about the foyer.  Our “in the meantime” kitchen fix is nowhere near complete, but I decided I could step away from …

Seasonal Photography–Flowers

Now that the weather is getting warmer (fingers crossed we don’t get a surprise snow storm) it has me looking to fill my walls with sun soaked images. Although April hasn’t even showed up yet, never mind showered down, May flowers are on my mind.  I’m sifting through images looking for the perfect series to print and hang somewhere, anywhere. Now I just have to decide which ones I want to hang.  Do you have a favourite?  I’ve edited these to my personal liking – I understand they may not appeal …

Spring Has Sprung

And it had me inspired this weekend to add a pop of colour to my coffee station. I felt like the coffee maker side with the cups and spoons needed something.  A little touch of style.  A little something special.  So of course when Bauer pranced up the yard with a sweet plastic rose in his mouth I immediately thought “hey – I can spray paint that”.  And thankfully the previous owners of the house left behind a whole collection of spray paints.  In it, I found the perfect …

Before & After–Thrift Store Mirror

I was busy this weekend spray painting my thrift store mirror for the kitchen.  Thankfully the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I had all day Sunday to lounge and spray, lounge and spray, lounge and spray.  We sure are kicking off spring with a bang this year.  I’m crossing my fingers that mother nature won’t be back to haunt us with snow before the end of the month.  You just never know.  For now, we’re taking advantage of temperatures that belong in June, July and August with lots of barbequing …

Before & After–Kitchen Furniture

I’m happy to say that spray painting the hardware for the kitchen furniture worked!  To think I was going to buy all new pulls.  I’m glad  I gave spraying them a shot because not only did I save myself some money, but I love the way they turned out.  Now that the hardware is back in place, it’s time for some real before and after shots – my favourite!  Of course I’ve included a yummy close up of that dark bronzy goodness we were lacking yesterday.  You’ll notice that I …

Full Frontal – Kitchen Furniture

I realize yesterday’s post was a bit of a tease.  I really wanted to show my puffy paint vase (I’m so glad you all love it like I do) without having the furniture reveal steal the show.  You got a glimpse of the top of the furniture and probably realized that I took some leftover fabric from my first “fauxman” shade and had it act like a runner.  I styled it with and without, and the fabric really ties in the shades and made the whole look a little bit …

Kitchen Furniture Before and In between

I was a busy gal this weekend.  I finally pulled the chest of drawers that was left here when we moved in, out of the basement.  I had a little help with that part.  But the rest was all me.  I primed and painted my little heart out.  Let me remind you what the dresser looked like before.Pretty sad looking.  But the lines are great and once the mirror was removed it was looking much less bedroom and much more kitchen to me.  This little beauty has a tall order …
