House Tour: Main Bathroom #2

I know the mention of having seven bathrooms in my Main Bath #1 post piqued interest from some of  you.  And I listened to you asking to see more of this big bungalow, it just takes me a while to get my butt in gear sometimes.  Better late than never right?  Here is a quick tour of the main bath on the south side of the house.  It’s old, it’s ugly, it’s pretty small and it obviously needs to go.  So far all I have done is clean it.  The …

That’s One Good Looking Weed

I don’t know who decided that a Dandelion was a weed.  It’s too bad they’ve gotten such a bad rap because they’re pretty darn gorgeous.  At least that’s what I will continue telling myself while I have a yard full of them.  No, for real.  These dreamy balls of fluff are my newest photographic obsession.See. Gauzy dream state perfection.  They make me want to make a wish.

Summer Porch Transformation

I hope all of my American readers had a fantastic Memorial Day!  Our long weekend fell a week ago and it made me realize – It’s basically summer time!  When the heck did that happen?  My front porch was looking pretty pathetic so I decided to spruce it up a bit.  Unfortunately the selection of pots and outdoor accessories I had around here was a pretty sad looking group.  I don’t know if any of you have looked for pots lately but they’re crazy expensive and I haven’t even seen …

I’m Digging My New Garden

Along with working on my open shelving (so glad you all like it) this weekend I got busy preparing to build a new garden. One to match the one I posted about not long ago.  It looks like the previous owners made an attempt at matching garden beds but didn’t quite get there.  They definitely planted in the correct area, but the didn’t raise the bed or box it in.  They made a less than stellar attempt as creating a barrier with bricks that were left over from the …

Open Shelving Reveal

The open shelving in the kitchen is finally done!  For now at least.  This area strikes me as one that will be constantly evolving with the seasons and my mood.  For now, I’m digging the rustic farmhouse look – I think that’s illustrated pretty well in how I styled the shelves and the intentional distressing of the shelves themselves.  I can’t believe how much this wall has changed since we moved in six months ago.  I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.  Let me remind you of what we were …

Open Shelving Progress–Still Not A Reveal

Painting cabinets is a royal pain in the butt.  Seriously.  Especially when they’re dark brown and you want them to be white.  I’ve lost track of how many coats of paint I’ve done at this point and my hand is officially a claw.  But it’s finally starting to look the way I want it to.  Slapping a coat on the dividing pieces has really transformed them. The last time I shared they looked like this….And today they look like this…
Better right? Not quite done though.  They need at …

Front Garden– Before & After

The biggest surprise I’ve gotten since we moved in to our house is how much I enjoy doing the yard work.  It’s a good thing because our lot is just under 4 acres and the previous owners loved plants.  Unfortunately they didn’t really do anything to maintain them and they planted them in the most random places.  Thankfully I’m learning how to transplant, and the abundance of foliage around here is going to save us a lot of money when it comes to filling out our gardens.  With such a …

We’re Making Progress!

A Saturday post!? Who knew.  I guess I’m just too excited about the changes happening in my kitchen to wait until Monday to share.  Thursday was my day off this week and boy was I busy!  I’ll let the following pictures speak for themselves. After I sanded down my horribly messing wood filling job I had a few areas that needed just a little bit more, so I slopped some on and got to work on the inside of the cabinets well I let the filler dry.  I think the shelving …

Kitchen Lack Of Progress Report

It has been insanely gorgeous here over the past few days, which is fantastic for our yard.  We’ve been out and about, weeding, transplanting, raking and scraping.  It’s starting to look like we actually live here and care about our house.  Unfortunately for the kitchen, the nice weather has completely shifted my focus – and my open shelving project is at a bit of a stand still.  I slathered two layers of wood fill in the cracks and holes before I bailed.  However, it’s supposed to rain all week.  I’m …
