Thrify Tin

It’s been a pretty busy week over here!  I’ve been swamped at work and the weather has been too nice to stay inside on the computer when I’m not working  However, I did manage a quick trip to my local Value Village and let me tell you – I cleaned up!  I’m only popping on quickly to share my favourite score.  This tin.Isn’t it the cutest thing?  And it only cost me 99 cents!  I’m in love with the colours, the patter and the vintage feel.  I’m thinking it would …

Progress At My Sister’s House!

My sister closed on her house at the end of May.  Since then I’ve been there to visit for two weekends and we’ve made some progress.  The first real project we tackled was cleaning, priming and painting the walls in the master bedroom.  I think the results are pretty fantastic.  I love the paint colour (Aspen Gray – Valspar) and the floor colour seems so much more alive now that the baseboards are slathered in white semi-gloss. Check out how the room looked to begin with – too much wood! And …

Ebony & Ivory Pebble Frames

For days I was all over the place thinking of what I  should do in the second frame I spruced up here.  When I realized, I should just keep things simple and create another pebble arrangement.  Why not? The pebbles are free,  they look cute and they fit with the vision I have for my entry way.  Of course I wanted it to be a little bit more interesting than a repeat so I scoured my collection for the greyish black rocks (and when I say collection, I mean the …

Pretty Peonies

Peonies are one of my favourite flowers.  They’re so full and fluffy.  I’m thrilled that we have them in our yard because they make beautiful arrangements.  Yesterday I noticed that the blooms on our bush in the back yard were so heavy they were dragging on the ground.  I took that as a sign to clip them before they either got trampled by the dog or had a run in with the weed whacker.  I’m so glad I did because not only did these flowers produce a beautiful arrangement, they …

My Newest Thrifty Treasure

This might seem like a bit of a random purchase.  I mean who really needs a projector?  Well, I guess I don’t need it but when I saw it at my local Value Village I couldn’t pass it up.  It’s just too cool.  I figure it will eventually sit in a cabinet in our office or on top of a giant pile of books somewhere.  And if you ask me $12.99 isn’t a bad price for a conversation piece.  Did I mention it actually works?  I love the way it …

Before & After Picture Frames

This weekend, we focused on clearing the basement and sheds of renovation debris, old carpets, and junk left behind by the previous owners.  I stumbled upon a few picture frames that could have easily been tossed in the bin but decided they had some potential.  I guess I’m the only one who thinks so because the “$6.00 for the  pair” sticker suggest that they were left over from a yard sale.  What did they expect?  If I saw these at a yard sale I’d pay a buck each.  Tops.Kind of …

A Quick & Cheap Soap Pump Upgrade

Of course if a project is considered quick and cheap you can almost guarantee spray paint is involved.  I hated my soap pumps so I decided to give them a quick coat of spray paint to make the fit in to the kitchen a little better.
Not exactly a major transformation but they at least have a little bit of personality now.  I’m thinking of adding some stripes or chevrons.  We’ll see.

I linked up!

A Second House To Decorate? Ok!

My sister just bought a new house!  It’s under an hour away from me and it needs loads of work.  She’s  not exactly into interior décor and has basically given me the go ahead to choose colours and finishes for her her – under two circumstances – they fit within her budget and she gets veto power.  Fair enough.  I know you guys,  you want to see pictures don’t you? Here are a few of the interior.  I told you it needs loads of work.  You’ll agree I’m sure.I …
