My “I Can’t Wait For Fall” Front Porch

While I was on vacation last week I started transitioning my front porch from summer to fall.  I’m not going to lie, as I took the pictures today I considered breaking to take a cool down swim.  It’s way too hot to be decorating with pine cones. And while I love fall just as much as everyone else, I’m feeling like this porch is a little bit premature.  So, I resisted the urge to drive down to the corner and pick up a pumpkin.  I will wait and add the …

Coffee Station. Coffee Photo. Makes Sense.

Well,  my vacation is over.  I could cry.  I loved being at home with the puppy all week, working on the house, sneaking away to the woods for a few days with family and dressing in colour – I have to wear all black to work in case that didn’t make sense to any of you.  During my week off I had a list of things I wanted to accomplish.  There are still a few items waiting for a strikethrough.  But I did make it out to get a few …

Worst. Job. Ever.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – removing linoleum is the worst. job. ever. I feel like I’ve spent the majority of my vacation working on the foyer floor and the foyer floor only. I’ve barely made a dent in the rest of my to-do list and I’m running out of time! Why do work weeks go by so slowly yet vacation weeks fly by in the blink of an eye. Not. Fair. I feel like I’m finally making some progress on …

Summer Vacation 2012!

If you follow  me on Twitter you already know that I’m on vacation!  And I couldn’t be happier about it!  It’s not all going to be rest and relaxation around here though.   I have a list of things I want to do this week.  Not all of them are for the house, a few are just for me!  And I’ve already accomplished some of them!  It’s only Tuesday!

Summer Vacation 2012 To-Do List

Finish removing the paper and glue from the foyer floor.  Yes you read that right.  I still haven’t …

Coffee and Photography

I love coffee.  I love photography.  Why have I waited so long to combine my two obsessions?  Yesterday, coffee became my newest subject.  And I’m thrilled with the results of the edits.  Help me decide which edit I should print.  I’m leaning towards the last one.  I’m thinking a black and white gallery wall might look pretty good in my entry way – if I ever finish it.You’ll  notice I named this series Sunday Morning, because I can’t think of a better start to a leisurely Sunday than coffee and …

Healthy, Homemade Fro Yo!

Creating in the kitchen fulfills me the same way creating a craft, painting a room, or refinishing a piece of furniture does.  You start with nothing and end with something!  Something made entirely by you!  Something that taste good (hopefully), photographs nicely (with any luck at all) and in this case, is good for you!  This blog focuses on making our home beautiful but I’m also passionate about health and fitness.  And I’m always looking for creative ways to satisfy my sweet tooth without sacrificing my health.  Don’t get me …

Summer Lovin’

Like many of you,  I’m already looking forward to fall.  And I hate that.  It’s one of my weaknesses.  I have a hard time enjoying the moment.  I’m always looking forward to the next holiday, season, week, moment.  And while record high humidity, hair that can’t be tamed and a car with no air conditioning aren’t encouraging me to enjoy these summer moments, this picture is.Soon enough I’ll be photographing crunchy leaves, pumpkin patches and leather boots.  When it’s here I’ll embrace it.  But at this moment in time, vibrant …

Kitchen Compromise.

Remember when my kitchen counter looked like this?It was pretty wasn’t it?  Styled with a beautiful light fixture, repurposed fruit containers from Crabtree & Evelyn and vintage salt and pepper shakers.  Well,  lets just say a little bit of compromise has gone on since then and the counter is currently housing a GIANT bucket of protein powder, the blender, a bottle of fish oil supplements and a box of men’s sport vitamins. And the worst part?  I’m under strict instruction not to put the powder in a glass jar with a …
