It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No. 4–My List Has Been Made And Checked. Twice.

Today is the fourth installment in my It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas series!  If you’ve missed any of the first three post, check them out here.
I’ve made my list, and I’ve checked it twice.  Yep, I’m sure.  I want everything I put on it!  If any of my family is reading this, feel free to spoil me rotten this year.  I won’t mind.  In return, I’ll spoil you rotten too!  That’s fair.  Right?  I could have filled the entire thing with electronics and photography paraphernalia this year!  …

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No. 3–Traditional Holiday Vignette

Thanks so much for joining me for the third post in my It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas series.  If you’ve missed a post you can catch up here.
I’ve broken the house rules.  Our halls aren’t suppose to be decked until December 1st.  I couldn’t wait.  I’ve dismantled my winter décor (you can see it here and here) to make room for nutcrackers and candy canes.  The first area I’m going to share with you is the long dresser  (you remember – the one I got for …

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No.2 –Shortbread Bites

I’m so glad you’ve joined me for my second It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas post!
When I think of traditional Christmas cookies, I think of shortbread.  And when I do my holiday baking, I ‘m really only interested in easy recipes.  The holidays are a busy enough time without making things harder on ourselves. Right?  So when I stumbled upon this shortbread recipe, I couldn’t wait to try it.  It only requires four ingredients – and I already had them all!  Let me tell you, this recipe was …

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No.1 – Christmas Morning Table

I’m so excited to kick of my, It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas series today!  It falls purposely in line with the Dare To DIY Challenge being hosted by Décor And The Dog, Maybe Matilda, Newly Woodwards and Two Twenty One.  Today’s “dare” is to entertain.  So that is exactly what I did this weekend.  Well, I didn’t actually entertain, I set a table like I might set one for breakfast on Christmas morning.
I figure, Christmas morning is the only day we can get away with having candy …

It’s Beginning To Look A lot Like Christmas

DIY Art For The Office

I mentioned that my to-do list for my new office is still pretty long.  The least important item on the the list is art for the walls.  It’s also the most fun item on the list.  So of course I started there.  This is the second large piece of wall art for the house I have attempted myself (check out the first one here).  I think I pulled it off.  I had a long piece of wood (6’ by 20”) that was already painted black -  I had used as …

Our First Year As Homeowners

Can you believe it’s been a year since we closed on our house?  Honestly, I can’t.  It’s true what they say,  time flies when you’re having fun, or when you’re busy and exhausted.  The biggest lessons I have learned in this past year, are that nothing happens over night and projects always take way longer and cost way more than you expect them to.  But I wouldn’t trade this past year for anything.  I’m having so much fun making this house ours.  I thought I would do a quick comparison …

Open Shelving & Coffee Station Styled For “Winter”.

I caught the decorating bug when I styled my “winter” vignette in the entry way.  I don’t know what happened.  I thought cozying up that one corner would satisfy me, but it did the opposite!  I couldn’t help myself.  I figured as long as I stuck to the white and clear colour scheme I used to justify my “winter” decorations, a few seasonal items in the kitchen couldn’t hurt.  And hurt they don’t.  I’m kind of, sort of in love with the combination of branches and snowflakes I’ve stumbled upon.  …

Office Progress

There is still a lot of work to do in my new office, but I’ve finally covered up most of the blue, purple, pink and peach paint.  And the orange carpet has been trashed (hallelujah!!).  Three walls have been covered in Valspar’s Aspen Gray (which you’ve seen before in my Sister’s master) and the fourth got a few lovely coats of the leftover Hosta Flower I used on my entry way table (seen here and most recently here – pretty and styled).  I’m absolutely loving the lightness, brightness and sparkle …

Decorating For “Winter”

I don’t usually start putting up Christmas decorations until December 1st.  Not because I don’t want to.  I guess some people around here think that decorating in November is overkill.  Whatever.  If I had my way, the halls would be completely decked already.  But I try to be cooperative.  And by cooperative I mean, I look for clever ways to subtly break the “rules”.  I’ve started decorating for winter.  Not Christmas, winter.  Our front entry table got a seasonal transformation this weekend. It’s just enough to satisfy my desire to cozy …
