Diana Decorates: Holiday Sideboard
I have a confession to make. I’ve been preparing for Christmas since October 31st. That’s right. I started making Christmas decorations on Halloween. Feel free to stop reading now. I know, that’s annoying. And to make matters worse I failed at containing my Christmas cheer until after American Thanksgiving – which I have been told (very seriously by Andrew) is the standard in putting up Christmas themed decor. I couldn’t do it. So while all of my neighbors to the south were giving thanks, I was trimming the tree, drinking hot chocolate and watching The Santa Clause 2!
Since I decided to hand make a few decorations for my Christmas tree I had an abundance of pretty ornaments that I just couldn’t stand to let sit in the box this year. Digging through them was fun. Putting them on display in a way that I hadn’t before was a challenge but, if I do say so myself, the results are beautiful!
I present to you my holiday side board. Which is really just the desk that I usually use as a sofa table, re positioned in the dining room.
I’m really happy with the cake stands I picked up from Homesense. They seem to make whatever you put in them look special and whimsical, and best of all they can be used all year long. They cost $12.99 $9.99 and $7.99. Not bad.
And here are a few at night. Doesn’t it look romantic? In case you were wondering – those “snow balls” are just a few of the hand made ornaments I made this year. Stay tuned for an instructional post.
So there you have it! A simply beautiful holiday sideboard. And it was pretty affordable too! I purchased the cake stands, but everything else I already had or made myself!
Have any of you started putting up your Christmas decorations yet?
I can’t be alone. There is snow on the ground here. If that doesn’t get you in the mood for the holidays I don’t know what will.
