Blue Be Gone!

16 January 2012 9 Comments

Brrrrr.  Is it ever cold outside!  And the weekend was pretty much the same.  Thankfully, I didn’t really need to do anything outside and had plenty to keep me busy inside.  I feel like I’ve spent the last two days shut in to the mud room (kitchen extension) only breaking for coffee, food, t.v., blog reading, and general lounging.  So basically I took my sweet time.  But I completed my mission – rid the back door of all traces of blue.  Let me remind you of what the door looked like before.

And here is what she looks like after two days of puttering around with a paint brush in hand.

There is obviously still some work to do around the trim here but a vast improvement if I do say so myself!

Now for the rest of the trim, the blue walls, the wood door and that floor.  The to-do list just keeps getting longer because once you improve one thing you have to do everything around it or it seems like a waste.  See what I mean?

And let’s everybody take note of the location of that coat hook and how the shelf on the left sticks out into the doorway.   Strange.  As are a lot of things around this place.  Enough rambling, what did you get up to this weekend?  Anything exciting?  Did you brave cold temperatures or did you hermit yourself like I did?

It looks much better! Great job! You’re so right – whenever I make any small changes it’s like a can of worms because it leads me in to 100 more projects. Ahh the never-ending processes of home improvement!

Big improvement! Not sure what to make of that coat hook and shelf! We had an unheard of 60 degree day yesterday, so my housework suffered, but I feel good about that. ;)

Wow, that looks sooo much better! Baby blue must have been the previous homeowner’s favorite color! They certainly put it up everywhereeee haha. I’m glad you are attacking it all with some white paint and a paint brush! ;-)

What a HUGE improvement some paint can make! And those shelves and random hook are so… weird.

Yahoo! Looks great =) What is on the other side of the door? Does it make sense to hang anything there, lol? Random!

    Hey Kelly!
On the other side of the door is a powder room. Which also has a door leading in to a bedroom at the back of the house. Maybe they didn’t use this door because they wanted the bathroom to be private for the person living in that bedroom? I know we don’t really plan on using that door or that bathroom so maybe they weren’t either.
