Back Bedroom–A Really Late Progress Report

8 February 2012 9 Comments

When we first closed on our house we decided we were going to make the back bedroom our room until we complete our renovation of the other side of the house – where the master with ensuite bath is.  I had mentioned that work had already started on the room way back at the beginning of December and I promised that updates were soon to come.  Here it is, February already and I haven’t shared a single picture of this room after we ripped up the carpet.  Shame on me.  Here is a little reminder of what the room looked like before we busted out our paint brushes.November 2011 649November 2011 652-1November 2011 653November 2011 661 And here it is with two coats of paint.  Of course we used Utterly Beige in here too because we had quite a bit left over from our rental.  When we were tearing the carpet out of the living room we saved the trim for use in here – we couldn’t afford to buy trim like this now.  It’s pretty thick and it’s solid wood so we figured with a fresh coat of semi-gloss white, it would do the job – this is just a temporary fix after all.Festive Front Porch 2012 010Festive Front Porch 2012 012Festive Front Porch 2012 007I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do with the floor in here.  And the wood door drive me nuts.  For now though, the room is functional.  After I finish my temporary kitchen fix I may move back in to this room and tackle the floor, the door and the décor.  It’s currently looking like a bit of a hodgepodge of furniture.  I’ll post a follow up to this post so you can see how it looks with stuff in it.  And we did a bunch of work on the closet to make it more functional so I’ll share details and pictures of that too.  And this time it won’t take me two months.

    Thanks for the sweet comments!

Ashley, My head has been close to exploding a few times. But we’re just taking it one day at a time and trying to not let the mess and chaos get to us. We do most of our work on the weekends so during the week we focus on our full time jobs, our puppy, having a nice dinner and spending some time together in the evenings. It makes things easier to know that it’s ok to just come home from work and relax. I think if we were in a real rush to finish things it would be much more taxing.
