Vintage Photographs

9 February 2012 15 Comments

I have a thing for old stuff.  When I see it, I want to photograph it.  It doesn’t matter if it’s in a store, at the cottage, or on the side of the road.  There is something so special to me about capturing the beauty of something old and simple with new and complex technology.  And when I get home I could edit these pictures for days.  I have a group of four photographs that I absolutely love.  They’re edited entirely to my preference so I understand if they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, served in a really old teacup complete with a gold trimmed saucer on vintage linen – I wish I had a picture of that.Goode Cake ShopsKodak BrownieStove        TyperwriterI’m thinking of printing these pictures and displaying them in our kitchen once our “in the meantime” fix is complete.  I love the idea of art in the kitchen.  I just can’t decide if these will look out of place or if the “The Goode Cake Shops” photograph and the photograph of the old stove are enough to make tie these into the kitchen.  What do you think?  Love ‘em?  Hate ‘em?  Would they be better somewhere other than the kitchen? Office?  Hallway?  I’d love to hear what you think.

I love a hint of retro in a kitchen! It’s too daring for me to try, but I think you could make anything work!

Those pictures are gorgeous! Have you ever considered opening a print shop and selling them?

Brandi, No I haven’t really considered selling them. I never thought they were good enough to ask money for. You think people would actually pay for them? :o /.

Love the photos! Especially the one about cake! It would be perfect in a kitchen. I actually want to get some vintage ads and prints to hang in our kitchen on the exposed brick wall.

These are great. You definitely have a vintage feel with the colors and lighting. Which pairs perfectly with the vintage object you photographed. I agree you have talent.
