Full Frontal – Kitchen Furniture

15 March 2012 12 Comments

I realize yesterday’s post was a bit of a tease.  I really wanted to show my puffy paint vase (I’m so glad you all love it like I do) without having the furniture reveal steal the show.  You got a glimpse of the top of the furniture and probably realized that I took some leftover fabric from my first “fauxman” shade and had it act like a runner.  I styled it with and without, and the fabric really ties in the shades and made the whole look a little bit softer.  Bonus – it protects all of my hard work.  I decided that the coffee pot would be best situated in the middle (to hide the ugly almond coloured plug when you’re standing directly in front of the piece) and on top of the cutting board to protect the furniture from spills and spoon marks.  After that I just started placing things and replacing them and replacing them again until I found a combination that I loved.  The nice thing about having this in the kitchen is that it’s a space that is not shared with food preparation, so I’m free to fill it up with all things pretty.  I’m the only coffee drinker in the house and I don’t mind working around a few beauties while I pour myself a cup in the morning.  In fact it’s a rather nice way to start my day.  The hardware is still  missing – it’s on my to-do list for today so you’ll have to imagine all of the dark bronzy goodness that is to come.March 2012 108March 2012 059March 2012 053

March 2012 036You can see I have the drawers pulled out a bit because they don’t yet have handles and it would break my heart if I had to scratch them struggling to get them pulled back out when the time comes to put the hardware on.  Here are a few detail shots, mostly because I love detail shots.  The measuring spoons that are pictured below and also in the canisters were a gift from a friend.  I believe she picked them up from anthropologie.  How cute are they!?  And I’m currently in love with this granny smith green as an accent colour.March 2012 025March 2012 110March 2012 085So there you have it.  The newest member of family.  I catch myself staring at it an embarrassing amount.  Seriously, I won’t even tell you how many times a day I stop to admire how the kitchen is coming along.  And just for fun let’s do a few comparisons from not so long ago and today.March 2012 051March 2012 048March 2012 052March 2012 053What a difference!  I’m thrilled with how the kitchen is coming along.  I’m off to get my ORB on.  What are you up to today?diana

Hey Melanie, They were a gift from a friend. I believe she got them at Anthropologie. It was last summer. I’m not sure if they still have them or not. But they’re super sweet so if they do you should pick up a set!

The dresser looks great, and I like how you’ve incorporated it with your kitchen cabinetry. It really stands out as an important piece in the room :-)

Plans for today are leaving work early to watch the NCAA basketball tournament and working on a couple of projects while I’m watching. I’m hoping that the games will distract me from the sure-to-be boring job of making lots and lots of wax paper circles!
