Thrift Store Chairs–Before & After

17 April 2012 16 Comments

Remember when I gave you a little sneak peek at my made over thrift store dining chairs?  Well, I’m back to share with you the after pictures!  It was such a beautiful day on Sunday, I decided to photograph one of the chairs outside.  The barn board acts as the perfect rustic backdrop to my new distressed pride and joy.  Both of the chairs are done, I just didn’t want to lug the second one outside for my mini photo shoot.  I promise you aren’t missing anything.  They look like twins.  In case  you don’t remember what the chairs looked like when I first brought them home, here is a reminder.April 2012 012April 2012 002And here is what one of them looks like after a bit of sanding, two coats of white primer, two coats of Rustoleum white spray paint in a gloss finish, a little sandpaper distressing and new seat covers.April 2012 153April 2012 154April 2012 123April 2012 128I’ll have to clean my kitchen before I post any pictures of the chairs in their new home.  Don’t worry, I’m going to be posting an update on the kitchen and entry way soon so you’ll get to see them in their natural habitat shortly.  And I’ll be popping back on with a tutorial for the chair covers too.  What do you think?  Are you a fan of the distressed/antiqued look?  I never thought I would be, but it had me smitten with the first swipe of the sandpaper.  They just look deeper and more authentic to me with a little bit of imperfection.diana

Hirl, you missed your calling as a photographer! The barn backdrop and the way you framed the shot were perfection.
