Open Shelving Progress–Still Not A Reveal

16 May 2012 8 Comments

Painting cabinets is a royal pain in the butt.  Seriously.  Especially when they’re dark brown and you want them to be white.  I’ve lost track of how many coats of paint I’ve done at this point and my hand is officially a claw.  But it’s finally starting to look the way I want it to.  Slapping a coat on the dividing pieces has really transformed them. The last time I shared they looked like this….May 2012 009And today they look like this…May 2012 028May 2012 030
Better right? Not quite done though.  They need at least one more coat of paint on the dividing pieces, touch ups here and there and I need to caulk that awful gap between the far right cabinet and the wall.  Why does everything take so much longer than I think it will?diana

Hey Christine. Our walls are Utterly Beige by Sherwin Williams. You can read more about them here – http://boyplusgirldesign.com/?p=1229 We also painted our mudroom this colour. And our entire townhouse was painted Utterly Beige. Hope that helps!

They look so bright and white and pretty! So, you plan on keeping them open? What are you going to fill them up with?

Looking good! Can’t wait to see it done! And I HATE how long projects take sometimes! You always expect it to go way faster.
