My Sister’s Kitchen
On Canada Day we did what any good Canadian DIYers do. We went to Home Depot. And we spent some of our hard earned money. Well I didn’t. My Sister did. If there is one thing I admire about her it’s that she isn’t afraid to pull the trigger. She saw some tile that she liked for her kitchen floor and backsplash and before I knew it we were loading up the cart. Simple. As. That. Of course the prices helped make the decision pretty easy. The porcelain floor tile was on sale for .85/sq.ft. The stone and glass blend backsplash was on sale for $5.47/sq.ft. At those prices you can’t really go wrong. Check out the combination.![]()

I think the two look great together and go really well with the paint we had already picked out. Of course we wouldn’t have hesitated to change the paint colour if we found a combination we loved that didn’t work with it. Her plan is to do dark chocolate cabinets – much like the brown tile colour in the backsplash. We’re still weighing the options for countertops but I’m think a really dark stained butcher block would look great. It would almost blend in to the cabinets and let the backsplash be the focus. I have some convincing to do in that area. I’ll be sure to keep you all posted as we fill in the blanks.

Love that tile! Beautiful combo!
