Easiest. Canvas. Art. Ever.  Seriously.  Ok, it’s a bit messy but that was part of the fun!  I just globed on my paint and sprayed it with a water bottle.  Then I globed on some more.  I continued globing and spraying until I was happy with what I saw.  These colours are a little bit bolder than I would normally chose and the style is a bit more modern.  But it’s a nice change for summer.  I can see this eventually living in a guest room – you know if we ever upgrade our guest room from a futon sandwiched between two messy desks to something civilized.  Check it out.Painting 9Painting 10Painting 1Painting 2Painting 4Painting 5Painting 6Painting 3Painting 7Painting 8There were a few points during this project that I considered stopping and painting out what I had done.  I think trying things like this can be a bit intimidating for someone who isn’t an artist because you’re afraid it will look amateur or silly or people will think you’re trying to be something you’re not.  I’m glad I stuck it out because I actually like how it turned out.  I have two other canvases the same size that I can’t wait to start on.
What do you guys think of the spray bottle approach?  Have you tired it?  Are you intimidated by the thought of creating your own art?  Is this style a little more modern than you like or do you dig it? And of course – in an effort for full disclosure – this idea was originally planted in my head through pinterest. Shocking right?  Check out the original source here.  Same approach – two totally different looks. And here it is pinned on my DIY Home board!

I love it Diana! I think it adds such a great pop to your kitchen! I’ve never heard of the water bottle approach, but I have a canvas that I desperately need to do-over, so maybe I’ll try this!

Hey Whitney! You should give this technique a try! It’s pretty hard to screw up – which is why I liked it so much!

    Hi Diana,

I popped over from Mailbox Journey when I saw that you were a Canadian blogger. I’m from Canada too (Ontario) and find it interesting to read other Canadian blogs.

This art is really cute! I love the colours in it! I’ve never heard of the spray bottle approach either- sounds like a good time!!

    Hi Christine!!
So glad you stopped by! I love reading Canadian blogs too! There just aren’t enough of us! The spray bottle approach is pretty fun and it’s impossible to screw up. Well I guess it’s kind of impossible to screw up any abstract art but the spray bottle makes it so easy! Thanks again for dropping in on us! I’m off to check out your blog now.
