Have You Seen Our Basement Lately?

9 July 2012 13 Comments

Of course you haven’t.  Because I haven’t showed you anything basement related in a while.  Progress has been made!  It’s still a giant disaster but we’re slowly clearing stuff out and revealing how gigantic this space really is.  I thought today I would give you a progress update on the north side of the basement.  You probably don’t remember what it looked like back in November when we moved in, so here are a few reminders.  To see more before pictures check out our House Tour: Basement post.Basement Before 2Basement Before 3Basement BeforeAnd here is what the same portion of the basement looks like today!Basement Progress 1Basement Progress 2Basement Progress 3And from the other side it look like this.Basement Progress 4Basement Progress 5Basement Progress 6I know it doesn’t look like much but so much work has gone it to demolishing this space, clearing out the debris and working on the electrical.  This half of the basement will eventually become a recreation room.  For the time being we are working on cleaning it up to make room for tools and a work space while we renovate the main floor of the house.  So that is how we spent our weekend – oh and we got to work on our entry way too.  You’ll have to stay tuned for that! What did you get up to this weekend?  Did anyone else slave away at D.I.Y.?  Or were you smarter than that and hit the beach or pool? diana

I can’t imagine how much work that has been; your basement is huge! Keep it up. I am sure it will be a beautiful rec room when complete.
I wish I had spent the weekend at the beach or pool, but I mostly just did stuff around the air conditioned house!

Our basement, like the rest of the house, was a complete hot, moldy mess. When we had new concrete poured it was such sweet relief. Good luck with yours! Hope you are all water tight, which always seems to be the issue with basements!

I think the only issue we have had so far with water is at the windows. A pain in the butt for sure but fixable. Thank goodness!

We have been busy! The basement is huge! There is no doubt about it. I don’t think we realized how big it was until we started taking walls down!

Wow, that is a really big space. It will be glorious to have once you’ve got it all fixed up!!

Exciting!! I was slaving away in my bathroom all weekend… scraping grout. It’s as fun as it sounds.

Wow! You guys have been busy! I love the basement space that you guys have. Is the staircase leading down into the basement curved? It looks awesome!

that basement is ENORMOUS! i can’t wait to see it take shape…and that staircase is amazing!

I was dreaming of the beach all week-end. Sadly I live in Iowa. So we worked on the house.

You are definitely making progress…messy progress!!

Yes the stair case that leads from the entry way into the basement is curved! It’s pretty cool. We have a straight staricase from the other side of the house into the basement as well.

That is a huge basement and will be such a nice area once you finish. This may be one case where right now the before pictures look better. I can tell you have been busy though and it will be worth the effort when you finish.

Haha Krystle! You’re absolutely right! It smells alot better than it did though. That’s for sure!
