Kitchen Compromise.

3 August 2012 7 Comments

Remember when my kitchen counter looked like this?Kitchen Counter LightIt was pretty wasn’t it?  Styled with a beautiful light fixture, repurposed fruit containers from Crabtree & Evelyn and vintage salt and pepper shakers.  Well,  lets just say a little bit of compromise has gone on since then and the counter is currently housing a GIANT bucket of protein powder, the blender, a bottle of fish oil supplements and a box of men’s sport vitamins.Kitchen Compromise 1Kitchen Compromise 2And the worst part?  I’m under strict instruction not to put the powder in a glass jar with a fancy scoop, no stenciling the container and no hiding it in a cupboard.  It’s killing me.  But I have to remember, it’s not just my kitchen and sometimes I have a tendency to favour design and style over function.  I know I’m not alone in that.  I think it’s a women thing.  Have you made any style or design compromises for your, less than design enthused partner lately?diana

I totally hear you on this one! For example, my husband’s road bike seems to have found a home in my dining room. Oy. My gentle suggestions that there’s a lot of space in the basement have not been met favorably.

I have to admit, I like the look of the first style better ;) BUT I know what you mean. It’s all about compromise :)

Dude. Yes. I gave D his own bowl to catch all his crap – wallet, phones, keys, sunglasses, money, whatever. You think it ends up in there? Ohhhhh no. It ends up all over my pretty little kitchen counter. Hmpf.

I totally feel your pain! My husband has a drawer in the kitchen that I am forbidden to touch, but I am DYING to organize it!

Lol. I feel your pain. My husband needing a recliner was just the start of the fun. I am not a huge TV watcher, but I agreed to a TV in the kitchen, and he is trying to convince me that we need one in the bedroom. I would rather cook and eat in the kitchen and sleep in the bedroom…but I suppose sometimes you do have to compromise =(

Haha…oh, there are SUCH differences between men and women! You are a great sport for compromising! :)

i know EXACTLY what you mean. Husband things find themselves everywhere. I have a giant shoe rack in our huge closet and his size 12 shoes are everywhere, all around it, in other rooms…anywhere besides on the rack.
