Worst. Job. Ever.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – removing linoleum is the worst. job. ever. I feel like I’ve spent the majority of my vacation working on the foyer floor and the foyer floor only. I’ve barely made a dent in the rest of my to-do list and I’m running out of time! Why do work weeks go by so slowly yet vacation weeks fly by in the blink of an eye. Not. Fair. I feel like I’m finally making some progress on this project so I thought I would give you an update. Do you remember what it looked like the last time I shared?

Sadly, that was way back at the beginning of July and that is exactly what it looked like when I started working on it again on Tuesday. Well besides a few grey walls. And here it is today…

I know it’s difficult to tell how much progress has been made because there is so much junk in the room but believe me, it looks a lot better than it did. Well, that’s not entirely true. It actually looks a lot worse than it did, but it’s getting closer to the desired result. And because this post is so full of ugly pictures I thought I would include at least one cute one.![]()
When I’m finally done this project I will post a tutorial on what we decided is the easiest way to tackle this project. Not that I think any of you would crazy enough to attempt it yourselves – I know I’m regretting it!

Go Diana, Go!
Thanks Melanie! I was in need of some cheering on!

oh god, you are totally scaring me to ever start on our kitchen reno, which is currently covered in linoleum!! Remember, it always looks worse before it can look better
. I just keep repeating that to myself over and over and over…LOL.
Oh man if pulling up laminate is that bad I’m not looking forward to doing our kitchen and dining room. Thankfully at our old house we hired someone to get rid of the laminate – there was five layers of it in the kitchen!
But keep it up!! Just keep thinking of how awesome it will look when you are finished to help the labor go by faster!
Hahaha Lyndsay! Yes, I keep repeating that to myself too!
Oh my gosh Debbie – FIVE LAYERS? No wonder you hired someone!
Hopefully you girls won’t have the same issues I’ve been having. I swear they used super glue or contact cement to put this linoleum down! Oh and don’t forget the layer of drywall mud they used to level the floor. Grrrrr.

Great job! What’s the plan for new flooring?
Progress is progress, and that’s a good thing!! Vaca and the weekends always go by way to fast. Booo work.
I’m so proud of you for sticking to it and getting it done! You must be thrilled to cross that off your list. It makes me extremely happy that we had people remove the linoleum in our old kitchen during the reno.
And really…whyyyyy do the work weeks have to drag and the vacations fly?!?! Not fair!
Hey Kelly, The plan for new flooring is tile. But not just yet. Before we do any permanent flooring we need to decide what our floor plan is going to look like. We have a bit of tweaking to do in the entry way because we don’t love where the closet is right now. In the meantime I just want to prime the plywood white and throw an enormous rug down!
You’re right Whitney! Progress is progress! I should be happier about what I have completed!
Gabbi! You guys were smart to hire that job out. If I ever need to do this agian I will be calling in the professionals!

You go girl! Some progress is better than no progress!
Thanks Ashley! You’re right! In this case – every little bit helps!
