Once again, a trip to my local Value Village delivered! I’ve always loved the rocking chair my Mom has and hoped she would give it to me someday. Well, I’m sick of waiting. So when I spotted this beauty, I didn’t hesitate to grab it! It’s solid wood, in exceptionally good shape and was only $12.99. Score!![]()

Now I have to decide what I want to do with it. I want to add a cushion to the seat and either paint or stain it. I know it doesn’t really need any work (with the exception of a little flaw on one of the arms) but the red stain it’s currently sporting just isn’t for me. I’m thinking distressed ebony stain might be nice. What do you guys think? Paint it? Stain it? Leave it alone?![]()

Hmm… this is a hard one. I’m going to vote paint it, with a fun & bright cushion. Or maybe a dark blackish stain, with a cream cushion – which would be very rustic & country. Hmm… I can’t decide! Great find though.
Hey Melanie,
I was thinking ebony stain and a cream cushion. With a fun throw over the back that I can change out seasonally. But a fun colour would be …fun! Tough decisions over here.

What a steal you got there for $13! I say chalk paint it!
Hi Antonella!
Chalk paint is an option for sure. Roughed up with chalk and wiped down to look like slate might be nice!? I may be doing that for a table for the entry way. Thanks for dropping by!

Sweet deal!
I’m currently in quite the same situation. Kevin picked up an old rocking chair for $25 at a local consignment shop and I can decide if I want to do anything with it or not. It looks quite similar to yours.
Maybe I’ll just wait and see what you do and copy
Or maybe I will wait and copy you Brandi!

Gorgeous! What an amazing find!
$12.99?! I am totally jealous right now. We are supposed to be getting an old wood rocker from my in-laws but I keep waiting!! =( Great find!
Hey Kelly!
Hopefully they don’t wait too much longer before they bring you the rocker! You’re going to need it soon!

I definitely agree with painting or staining it! I’m not a fan of red toned stains either. What an incredible price too! Major score!
