Before & After: Small Dresser Reveal

12 October 2012 19 Comments

Finally, I’m crossing something off of my to-do list.  It seems like I haven’t actually complete anything in forever.  Remember that small chest of drawers we scored (for FREE) last month?IMG-20120916-00301The one I had big plans to make over in a light grey colour, but ended up buying a paint called Hosta Flower, which is basically white.Small Chest Progress 2Well, I followed all of your advice and instead of panicking, returning the paint, and starting over, I waited it out.  And of course, you were all right.  Four coats of high gloss later, it looks pretty good.  I know so many people wanted me to keep the legs original.  But I had already scuffed them up with paint so I took the advice of Kelly and painted them a darker colour.  I landed on black because the long chest, which will also be getting a makeover, and will also be living in the entry way, will be black.  I figured it would be a nice way to tie the two pieces together.Dresser After 1Dresser After 2Dresser After 3Dresser After 4
Not bad for a free piece of press board furniture.  I’ll admit, I had my doubts about how this one was going to turn out.  I’m pleasantly surprised.diana

I linked up! You should too!

GORGEOUS! Wow! It fits that wall perfectly! What are your plans for the floors in here?

Hey Kate! Thank You! As for the floors in here – eventually they will be tiled. However, that won’t be for a little while because our grand master plan includes moving some walls around and we aren’t at that point yet. We have purchased some inexpensive laminate flooring that we will be laying as a temporary solution. Another “in the meantime” type fix. We figure at least it will be a finished surface that can be kept clean and looks somewhat socially acceptable!
