Thrify Finds–Underwood Electric 555

26 October 2012 10 Comments

Who pays $19.99 for an obsolete piece of office equipment?  I do.  I have a weakness for old electronics.  I don’t know why, but I just can’t say no. So when I stumbled upon an 80’s style typewriter while perusing Value Village, there was no question – this would be mine.  It’s fully functioning and the ink is still available!Underwood Electric 555 1 WM Underwood Electric 555 2 WM Underwood Electric 555 3 WM Underwood Electric 555 4 WMI haven’t decided exactly where it will go yet, but I’m confident it will find a lovely home and I will smile at it every time I walk by.  You can be sure I will update you on that!  Do you have a thrift shopping weakness?  Something you absolutely can’t say no to?diana

    Cute!

My weakness is dishware. I always see pieces I love and want to take home. I’ve learned to say no though- running out of cabinet space!

I’m glad I’m not alone in having a thrift store weakness! Good for you for saying no Christine! You’re stronger than I am.

I like it! It looks in perfectly good condition. I am definitely a thrifter. I never checked out the Value Village near me, but I should! We also have a Salvation Army. I have found a few small treasures there before. :)

    Hey Antonella,
You absolutely should check out the Value Village. I don’t know if the one I go to is just lucky, but I always find cool stuff.

SO COOL! You could make a really cool piece of art if you type something over and over…or lyrics to a wedding song…or a mantra that means a lot to you. Plus, it’s art in itself! Win-win! :)

    Hey Gabbi,
I have already used it once to leave a note. I loved how it looked when I was done. So charming. And you’re right! It’s art that’s capable of making art! Can’t go wrong there!

Hey Linda! Thanks for visiting! Yep, times sure have changed! I remember that my Mom had an electric typewriter when I was growing up. I loved using it!
