It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas No. 6–Red & Green Open Shelving

6 December 2012 17 Comments

Thanks so much for joining me today!  This is the sixth post in what will eventually be 25 post dedicated to all things merry and bright.  It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas you know!  If you’ve missed any of the previous five posts, catch up here!

Somebody in this house requested traditional holiday décor this year.  And somebody got it!  My open shelving has officially transformed from winter to Christmas.  And I’m in love with how it turned out.  I love styling this area of my house.  Truth be told, I love styling.  Period.  And these shelves provided me the opportunity to introduce some green to my traditional colour scheme.  So far I’ve been mainly focusing on red and white but I have to say, the green brought a depth and richness to this display that took me by surprise.Open Shelving 6 WM   Open Shelving 2 WM Open Shelving 3 WMOpen Shelving 4 WM Open Shelving 5 WMOpen Shelving 7 WM Open Shelving 8 WM I’ve always struggled with where to place my little General Store because I only have one piece of the village – handed down to me by my Grandmother.  I’m so happy that I was able to fit it in to my display.  The whole display makes me want to bake cookies every time I walk in to the kitchen.

So yesterday, I did just that.  Stay tuned, I’m sharing the recipe this weekend (it’s the easiest recipe ever – even easier than the shortbread bites I shared with you earlier in the series.)

How is your holiday prep going?  Have you been decorating, baking, shopping or are you in denial that there are only 19 more sleeps until Santa?diana

I really love that you styled the open shelves in traditional, classic colors and it’s not super in your face, but subtle. The little general store is perfect there too!

It looks wonderful! I have done ZERO decorating so far, and I’m feeling very behind! Hopefully I’ll get it in gear this weekend!

    Dude. Beautiful.

I think my favorite part is the branch with the green snowflakes… have you considered opening your home as a holiday B&B?? ;)

Cute and a bit subtle. It’s a bit hard to see, but it looks like there’s a cool image of a snowy street on the wall. Looks pretty!

Hi Ceci! Thanks for stopping by! Yes the image hung below the shelving is the same as the one I have used for my “photography” button in my side bar! A snowy downtown Ottawa street.

These open shelves are dreamy. And I love the mix of white and red and green. I’m also a huge fan of the branches with the sparkly green snowflakes. Just lovely.

Yep they do Gabbi! Thankfully they are functional too. But even if they weren’t they would have been worth it! I love making over this area!
