IKEA Rast Transformation

12 April 2013 13 Comments

You know that cheap night stand that almost everyone had in their first college dorm or apartment? The RAST. Well,  unfortunately, two are still kicking around my house.  I hate them.  Well, I thought I hated them.  Turns out, a few hours, a few nail heads and a pot of $1 “oops” paint I scored at Home Depot was all this little ugly needed.

Not bad for a buck right?  Now I just have to work on the other one.  I have been plugging along in my office and I may finally be able to show you a few after pictures next week!  I just have a few finishing touches left.  I hope you had a great week and have an even better weekend!

Love them! Great idea to use the nail heads! I’m going to get the Rast nightstands with the three drawers and “hack” them like everyone else on the internet has. They’re so cheap and look so good done over that I can’t resist.

It’s true Kate! At that price they can’t be beat! I’m sure yours will end up looking fantastic!

Hey Gabbi! I’m so glad to see you’re still reading! Yep – one of the cheapest projects I’ve ever done! It helps when you have stuff on hand.

Thanks Melanie! It’s a major improvement over the before that’s for sure!
