Festive Front Porch: 2012

10 December 2011 9 Comments

It’s that time of year again.  Time to spruce up the outside of the house for the holidays.  I decorated a few trees on the front porch of our townhouse last year.  Check them out here if you don’t remember.  And  although the exterior of our new house needs a great deal of maintenance and attention, I wanted to spread a little holiday cheer on the porch.  The only criteria for the decor was that it didn’t cost anything, because like we’ve made mention of before, we’re on a budget.  A tight one.

So, I did what any girl living in the country would do.  I headed to the back yard to gather supplies.  A little hydrangea here, a little dogwood there and ta da!  Two completely free (we already owned the pots and the plastic balls) Christmas urns.Festive Front Porch 2012 040

Now, I’m all about giving credit where credit is due and I have to mention that my Mom was the creator of the pot next to the door.  Didn’t she do a great job?

And although we showed you a picture of the front of the house in the post titled Tour Our First House, I don’t think we have ever showed you a good picture of the ugliness that was the ramp.  Here is what the front door looked like a few weeks ago.

Front Door with Ramp

So even though the patio stones are uneven and the “gardens” surrounding the steps have been completely neglected, it’s looking much better than it was.  Wouldn’t you agree?

Have you guys been up to any outdoor decorating lately?  We would love to hear about it.

Looks great! Kudos to your momma!! We haven’t done any outside decorating yet . . . We look like the scrooge’s of the neighborhood.

Wow! That ramp was hideous! I love the way you used what you had for those pots! They look great!
