Basement Progress: Up, Up and Away

14 December 2011 5 Comments

As we mentioned yesterday, the first item on our to do list for the “finished” portion of the basement was to get rid of the carpet.  Like the rest of the carpet in the house, it was old and smelly.  Now, I have to say, removing basement carpet is a delight in comparison to the carpets upstairs – no tack strips, no staples, no sore back.  In case you don’t remember, here is a picture of what the basement looked like before.

It’s insane how happy bare concrete makes me.  It’s like a blank canvas.  I should mention though that it has since become a designated dumping ground for all of the stuff we have put off unpacking haven’t had a chance to unpack yet.  And just because the pictures I have posted over the past few days haven’t exactly been the prettiest, I thought I would include one of a very cute, yet slightly confused looking puppy.

And in case you’re wondering, yes we will be removing the carpet from the staircase as well – just as soon as we figure out a way to add more hours to the day.

That’s what we’ve been up to.  What’s keeping you busy lately?

What is your plan for the floor? I’ve seen some beautiful stained concrete on Pinterest!

Hey Ashley! We have no plan for the floor as of right now. It will probably remain as is for a while. However, I do love the look of stained concrete. We will consider it for sure when the time comes to move forward down there.

Looking good! We took out stinky carpeting at our house also…it is so nice to get other peoples dirty stuff out, isn’t it? Your basement is awesome…the possibilities are endless. Have fun!
